13/10/2008 - Bisphenol A in oil and 50% ethanol
Proficiency test 1236 (March 09) is currently advertised as Bisphenol A in oil, however a new simulant for milk products has recently been introduced in EU food contact material legislation.
The use of 50% ethanol as a food simulant was introduced in Commission Directive 2007/19/EC and this Directive states:
"It has been shown that distilled water, which is used at present is not an adequate simulant for some milk products. It should be replaced by 50% ethanol, which better simulates their fatty character."
This simulant (50% ethanol) will be added to the test as well as the oil already advertised.
